Software and Tools Used for Creative Services

Computers have become such an integral part of our daily business lives it is hard to imagine life without them. The time saving uses are endless as well as the creative uses. What was once a laborious process to produce a simple advertising brochure can now be accomplished in hours.

Desktop publishing revolutionized the print industry and Adobe is the king. Many other software options are available but at Artwork Adobe we rely on the industry standard to create the best product for your business.

Recently, Adobe has gone to a subscription service. For a monthly fee, individuals and companies have the option of paying one price for downloading one or all of the programs available in Adobe Creative Suit. This allows the subscriber access to the very latest versions, online help, tutorials and other amenities, all instantly available. Adobe products are available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.


Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is considered to be the premiere digital imaging tool on the market. But it can be used to draw, create original artwork or edit photographs. Photoshop is designed for single page products such as posters, banners or brochure covers. You can also create individual artwork for importing into other desktop publishing or web products. Output files cover a wide variety. When saved in native Photoshop format, the file can be opened and edited on other computers.

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is Adobe’s main desktop publishing program. Designed for producing small or large print products, InDesign is best used for producing multi-page brochures, books, magazines or newsletters. Default page sizes are included but custom sizes can be easily produced. Importing images is easy. Producing font consistency and other design elements can be set by using master pages, making changed across a product possible with one click. Files can be exported as Adobe Acrobat, making the product accessible to clients worldwide. But to edit the file, you must have InDesign.

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is used to produce drawings, clip art or other illustrated graphics. You can import photos and turn them into line drawings, or free hand draw unique artwork. Like Photoshop, the program is designed for single page products, such as posters or banners. Files can be output in a variety of formats, including Encapsulated Postscript Files. These files have an advantage over others because they can be sized from small to large while maintaining image quality. Export formats can be edited in Photoshop but to make changes to the original file, you need to have a copy of Illustrator.

Adobe Fireworks

Adobe Fireworks is used to produce designs for websites and mobile apps without writing code. The product creates vector graphics and bitmap images, 3D images and interactive content for use on tablets and smartphones. The graphics produced are designed to load quickly on mobile platforms but still maintain a high image quality. Export files in a variety of formats but it is most popular format is the Portable Network Graphics file. PNG files can be opened and edited in Photoshop.

Adobe Flash Catalyst

Adobe Flash Catalyst allows designers to build interactive elements without knowing or using web code. The program allows us to develop prototypes, which can be sent to clients for critique or approval. The files can be output as Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Fireworks graphics can be imported without losing any details. The program is no longer being sold.
